Dear Parent/Carer,
I can’t believe its nearly Christmas already! This 1/2 term is very busy and full of fun activities. Thank you for your continued support with your children's reading. If you have any queries or problems please do not hesitate to contact us at school.

Our theme for this 1/2 term is
Festivals and Celebrations
Literacy
This 1/2 term we will be:
· Writing firework poems
· listening to and discussing stories from a range of cultures
· reading, following and writing simple instructions
We will still be aiming to write in sentences with capital letters, full stops and finger spaces!
Key Stage 1 will be producing and performing the Nativity which we are very excited about. There will be more information later but, as of today, our production will be The Wriggly Nativity!
We will of course contact you later with details of costume etc.

Home Reading
The children’s home reading books will be changed once a week. They will be given two books to bring home to share with you. Please can parents remember to sign their children’s reading record book, then we know they have been reading at home.
Book bags must be brought daily. It is a safe place to put important letters that are coming home.

This 1/2 term we will be focusing on Christmas - “Gifts and Gift Bringers.”
Finding out why people give and receive gifts and why Jesus was a gift.
Maths
This 1/2 term we will be:
· Solving problems involving money - giving change
· 1/10 more/less
· Understand subtraction, create number stories
· Sorting objects, giving criteria
· Doubling and halving
· Time - days and months
